Marietta Georgia Music

We are proud to announce that we will open a new school in Marietta, Georgia, on June 1, 2020. We are proud to announce the opening of Georgia's first ever Academy of Music, a brand new state music school that opens its doors to students from all over the state on July 1.

The school caters to the needs of students from all over the state and the city of Marietta, offering a variety of programs that meet the needs of parents, from music education to music therapy, music history to musical theater and more. The school is managed by the Georgia Academy of Music, a public music school located in the heart of metropolitan Atlanta, with an emphasis on the arts and training of music students, but also focusing on providing parents with needs such as music lessons, art classes, dance classes and music lessons.

The GPB showcases Georgia and country acts from across the state, showcasing the best of Georgia's music past, present and future, as well as local and national artists. One of the many influential bands that have formed in Georgia is the Georgia Band, which can be heard at the annual Georgia Music Festival of the Marietta Music Hall of Fame. Georgia's own award-winning soprano, soul music dynamo Sharon Jones, who grew up in Augusta.

There are also a number of artists from Georgia who continue the rise of country music, such as country singer-songwriter and country star Chris Stapleton. There are many more artists in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, as well as other local and national artists.

Being from Georgia is one of the most important aspects of her life, as is her music career. She has been a member of the Georgia Music Teachers Association since October 1959 and has lived in Columbus for 30 years, most recently as a music teacher at Georgia State University. This is her second move to Georgia, where she was the first teacher in the state music school system, the Georgia School of Music.

In addition to her membership in the MTNA, Beverly also runs her own music school, the Georgia School of Music. Jackie has held a number of positions in music education, including as a music teacher at Georgia State University, Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia, and in the fall as an assistant professor of music at the College of Arts and Sciences. Sandy has been a member of the Atlanta Music Teachers Association since October 1959 and of the Georgia Music Teachers Association since January 2010. She had many influential teachers over the years, including John F. Kennedy, George Gershwin, Billie Holiday, John Lennon, Elvis Presley and many others.

Carole sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Georgia State University, the Georgia Music Teachers Association and Georgia Tech Music School.

I remember Michael McDowell, the first president of GMTA, came to UGA and met with me and made various plans about GMTA. I haven't missed a meeting since I first joined in 1957, and I remember being a member of the Atlanta Boys Choir's choir. She was instrumental in founding the Georgia State Music Teachers Association and Georgia Tech Music School, and began her teaching career at the University of Georgia School of Music in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In the 1960s, she was an active member of the Mississippi State Music Teachers Association and the Southern Music Association in New Orleans.

Carey Harrison, our videographer and editor, has worked on this project and selected 8 country bands from all over Georgia to participate. They performed at the Georgia Music Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, in the summer of 2012, and at Georgia Tech in 2013.

If you are traveling on I-185 between Columbus and LaGrange, look for the Chet Atkins Highway and then drive a few miles south until you find Little Richard Boulevard. Driving along the Trisha Yearwood Highway, which leads over to your beloved Monticello, stop for a snack and enjoy the beautiful views of the Chattahoochee River, the Georgia State University campus and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's annual concert series.
