Atlanta Medical Center, formerly Georgia Baptist Medical Center, is a 467-bed Regional Level I Trauma teaching facility sprawled across two city blocks near the heart of downtown Atlanta. Atlanta Medical Center's Rehab Department offers opportunities in acute care, inpatient rehabillitation and outpatient. The patient population is very broad, allowing opportunities for staff to gain and maintain skill sets for a wide range of patient diagnosis. A typical patient diagnosises includes trauma, stroke, amputation, elective surgeries, general medical as well as some wound care.

The Physical Therapist will evaluate and treat inpatients with a variety of diagnoses. Evaluations are completed in a timely manner and they integrate patient's diagnoses, functional limitations and social history with patient discharge recommendations and treatment plans. Treatments are designed around the goals and indicated within the evaluations, with the intent to maximize patients' functional ability, minimize further impairments and facilitate patients' timely safe discharge.
