Atlanta Medical Center's Rehab Department offers opportunities in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient. The patient population is very broad, allowing opportunities for staff to gain and maintain skill sets for a wide range of patient diagnosis. A typical patient diagnosis's includes trauma, stroke, amputation, elective surgeries, general medical as well as some wound care.
Performs as an Occupational Therapist in a dynamic Level I trauma facility. Some of the duties include:
1. Reviews medical record and patient history prior to initial patient assessment for possible contraindications.
2. Performs assessment of patient's impairments and functional status, including prior level of function, psychosocial factors, and cognitive function and uses disease specific evaluative measures.
3. Interprets evaluation results, prioritizes problem list, and identifies benefits/limitations to intervention.
4. Develops objective measurable, functional and realistic goals based on assessment findings.
5. Plans and prepares written treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data.
6. Develops goals and plans with patient and family input, utilizing easy to understand terminology.
7. Provides consultation to physicians if other treatment modalities/techniques or therapies may be needed or indicated.
8. Assesses treatment results and modifies treatment as indicated per patient performance.
9. Involves patient and family during intervention to include patient feedback, participation and education.
10. Meets regulatory agency and departmental standards for documentation.

Job Requirements
Position requires Georgia state licensure. Acute care experience preferred. This position primarily serves patients in the acute care setting, and occasional assistance on the acute rehab unit. Availability for weekends and weekdays preferred. Splinting experience helpful, but not required.
The successful candidate will have:
1. Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of occupational therapy
2. Ability to instruct patients and families in occupational therapy methods and techniques
3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
4. Ability to prepare and evaluate reports
5. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, patients, families, and physicians
